Extraction of natural resources invariably involves the alteration of natural habitats and ecosystems. California has experienced some stupendous habitat alterations as a result of the Gold Rush and subsequent Sacramento-San Juaquin Delta training, mid-twentieth century population booms, and the passage of the California Water Resources Development Bond Act of 1960, which forever changed the face of the California landscape by diverting numerous Sierra born streams and rivers away from their natural courses toward the booming south.
The civil engineering and environmental consulting community is walking the razor’s edge, trying to reach a holistic balance between the needs of an increasing human population and the needs of the environment, careful not to repeat the mistakes of a prior era, and yet cognizant that it is often through mistakes the humans learn.
CFS Engineering is committed to the belief that nature and the modern world can live in coalescence. Through careful consideration of the resources at hand, their intrinsic value to nature and to humankind; CFS Engineering proceeds with a balanced project approach while keeping these fundamental considerations in mind.
